"TCM practitioners believe that all of the organs and channels of the body have an ongoing balance with nature."

Many people in pain, particularly those with disabling health conditions that are not helped by Western medicine, consult with Doctors of Oriental Medicine. These practitioners note the interactive nature of body channels, fluids and forces as ‘life’. The continuous unimpeded flow of body fluids is ‘health’…free from pain. TCM practitioners believe that all of the organs and channels of the body have an ongoing balance with nature. These organs and channels hold a balanced set of physiological activities related to ‘Qi’ and ‘Blood’, ‘Yin’ and ‘Yang’ (Previous HIV Nutrition Update issues hold background information on TCM.). Pathogenic changes such as trauma affect this balance causing body functions to become abnormal. Disease then results in pathological changes noted within the body.

During the year 2000, soft tissue manipulation methods practiced and synergized by Dr. Freiberg were termed as Ba Gua Fa by Dr. Wu Boping, OMD, MD, PhD of China. After overseeing his clinical practice of Ba Gua Fa for many years, Dr. Wu proclaimed Dr. Freiberg a rare Master Practitioner of this synergized biofeedback healing art. Ba Gua Fa is a soft tissue method developed and practiced by Dr. Freiberg during more than 10,000 patient treatment visits. It consists of the two ancient Chinese Acupuncture methods (without the use of acupuncture needles); Ba Guan (meaning empty cupping method) and Gua Sha (meaning frictional rubbing method). These methods apply pressure in directions different from any used in physical or massage therapy, chiropractic, or acupuncture treatment.
