Diabetes and Herbs

A variety of resources are available to keep clinicians and patients up-to-date on blood glucose abnormalities and the use of herbs. Among the online resources are:
 

  •  Herr SM. Herbs and Dietary Supplements with Potential to Alter Blood Glucose is available in HTML and PDF format. 
  • Phytotherapies.org is for herbal practitioners with articles and an extensive searchable and hyper-linked herbal database. 
  • The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit organization, which has a variety of materials on health care. Copies of their newsletters, such as Complementary Medicine Field Newsletter, HIV/AIDS and Methods Groups Newsletters are available through their newsletter index page.

Numerous companies offer continuing education credits (CEU's) for health care professionals. Pharmaceutical companies sponsor most of these CEU programs. Many subjects are about sessions held at conferences and discuss the use of drug treatments. 
 

  • PeerView Press has articles to download. Sign up for mail delivery of updates through their web site. 
  • AdvancMed is committed to the advancement of medical education; telephone 800/396-9577.
  • The HIV Information Network offers CEU's such as the 6th International Workshop on Adverse Drug Reactions and Lipodystrophy in HIV. The University of Alabama School of Medicine (UASM) Division of Continuing Medical Education sponsors this and other  subjects through their web site. The UASM Division of Continuing Medical Education lists many courses in various categories.
