CLIENT RESOURCES

Numerous U.S. Federal government entities offer free brochures, pamphlets and fact sheets. Among them are: Food and Drug Administration (FDA)- Dietary Supplements, Food Labeling and Nutrition, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition; Office of Dietary Supplements, NIH; US Department of Agriculture: Food Safety and Inspection Service, and Food and Nutrition Service.

The USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion offers a variety of teaching tools to help people learn about healthful eating. The site includes the Interactive Healthy Eating Index where people can check their overall diet quality and links to PDF files of the Nutrition Insights newsletter. 
The CDC offers BMI: Body Mass Index to consumers interested in learning about body mass index. The site also offers links to a variety of information on nutrition and exercise.
 

CLINICIAN RESOURCES

The BoneKEy-Osteovision web site serves as a central repository of knowledge in the field of bone, cartilage, and mineral metabolism for clinicians and researchers.

Other pages of interest include new items, which has an updated electronic fact sheet on the Use of Bisphosphonates in Metabolic Bone Diseases.

The Mediscover web site is a comprehensive infectious diseases portal, providing news, feature articles, updates on new therapeutics, conference webcasts and reports. Registration for regular email updates is free.
 
 

 


 
 
 
 
 
 

FREE RESOURCES

Tutorials developed by JHPIEGO Corporation working with the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), HIV/AIDS Bureau, and USAID are now on the Internet. These training and education programs on the Care of Women with HIV are designed to help healthcare personnel learn the technical knowledge they need to provide high quality healthcare services to HIV-positive women. The tutorials include A Guide to the Clinical Care of Women with HIV (DHHS) and HIV/AIDS and Nutrition: A Review of the Literature and Recommendations for Nutritional Care and Support in Sub-Saharan Africa. A CD-ROM with all eight tutorials is also available by email.

Over-the-Counter Medicines: What's Right for You? is available online at the Food and Drug Administration web site. For a single copy write to: Federal Consumer Information Center, Item 646 H, Pueblo, CO  81009.
