Ma
Huang
A
recent report notes that a herbal source of ephedrine (Ma huang) increases
the risk of heart attack, stroke and sudden death even
when patients take recommended doses. Ma huang has no scientifically
proven benefit and is only one of numerous botanicals that increase the
potential for herb-drug interactions. Find more information on the potential
for herb-drug interactions in the Jan/Feb and March/April 2001 HIV ReSource
Review issues. Readers may also visit the Herb-Drug
Interaction Handbook web site.
